We will not move a free feature behind a paywall. We publish the business model now, so that you can hold us to it.
What is free, forever
- All four modules: analytics, errors, logs and uptime. Analytics is the first module. The others are coming.
- All interfaces: the web UI, the MCP server, the CLI, the API and webhooks.
- No limits on sites, services, events, users or retention, except the limits of your server.
- Security: SSO, roles, viewer accounts and two-factor sign-in.
- All security fixes in the current release.
What we charge for
- LTS releases: long-term support with security fixes for older versions.
- Enterprise features that only large organizations need: SCIM, long audit-log retention, many organizations in one install, compliance reports.
- Support contracts and SLAs.
- Services that we run, if you choose them: global uptime checks, SMS and phone alerts, hosted status pages, offsite backups.

Our promises
- The license of the core is Apache 2.0, and it does not change.
- We do not own your contributions. You sign off your commits (DCO). We do not ask for a CLA.
- Your data stays on your server. Checkend has no AI inside, and it sends nothing to us.
The name
Apache 2.0 lets anyone use, change, host and sell the software. The license does not give the right to use the name or the logo. You can say "runs on Checkend". Give a hosted service or a fork its own name. The trademark policy comes with the public repository.
